Turkey eSIM Provider Comparison 2026: POVNOMAD vs. Airalo, Holafly, Nomad & Saily

Looking for a Turkey eSIM and torn between Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Saily and POVNOMAD? Two facts decide this comparison: the price of unlimited data and Turkey’s BTK block, which has affected the big international providers since July 2025. On 25 August 2026, 30 days of unlimited data cost €26.90 (Smart, 1 GB high speed/day) or €59.90 (XL, 3 GB/day) at POVNOMAD, €61.50 at Airalo (3 GB/day) and €68.90 at Holafly. This comparison shows all the numbers, the block status and who each provider suits. The comparison at a glance POVNOMAD Airalo Holafly Nomad Unlimited, 7 days €9.90 (Smart, 1 GB/day)€19.90 (XL, 3 GB/day) €22.00 (3 GB/day) €25.50 – (5 days: €14.55) Unlimited, 30 days €26.90 (Smart, 1 GB/day)€59.90 (XL, 3 GB/day) €61.50 (3 GB/day) €68.90 – (max. 10 days: €23.97) Smallest Turkey plan from €1 unlimited plans only unlimited plans only 1 GB: €3.42 20 GB, 30 days €16.90 – – €17.12 On the BTK block list (July 2025) not on any published list yes yes yes Based in / support Germany (Saarbrücken), support in German and English international international international Validity start only with the first connection to a Turkish network see provider see provider see provider Hotspot/tethering available (Standard and Premium) see provider see provider see provider Own app (iOS and Android) yes, covers purchase, installation and top-ups see provider see provider see provider All prices collected on 25 Aug 2026 from the providers’ own Turkey pages (EUR). “–” = no matching plan offered on that date. Offers may change. High speed per day: POVNOMAD Smart 1 GB, POVNOMAD XL 3 GB, Airalo 3 GB (per its own fair use policy), each followed by 1 Mbit/s; Holafly states no threshold. The decisive difference: the Turkey block The BTK decision of July 2025 named Airalo, Saily, Holafly and Nomad among eight providers; by early 2026, more than 30 services were affected. The block hits these providers’ websites and apps on Turkish networks: anyone trying to buy, activate or top up locally cannot reach their sites. POVNOMAD is not on any of the published block lists (as of 25 Aug 2026). Our article Turkey eSIM Blocked? explains the details – and the most important rule applies to every provider: buy and install your eSIM before entering the country. Prices in detail On the reference date, Airalo and Holafly sold unlimited plans only for Turkey. If you need little data, you still pay the unlimited price there: the smallest Airalo plan costs €10.50 for 3 days, the smallest Holafly plan €11.37 for 3 days. At POVNOMAD, the Turkey eSIM starts at €1, and a 1 GB plan for 7 days costs €2.90. For data plans, Nomad and POVNOMAD sit close together: 20 GB for 30 days costs €17.12 (Nomad) versus €16.90 (POVNOMAD). The biggest gap shows up in unlimited data for a full trip: Nomad caps unlimited at 10 days (€23.97), while Airalo and Holafly charge more than double POVNOMAD’s €26.90 for 30 days. Saily advertises Turkey plans from US$3.99 on its website; the site could not be checked automatically on the reference date, so Saily is not in the table. Transparency on “unlimited”: at POVNOMAD, Unlimited Smart means unlimited data with 1 GB of high speed per day, after which you keep browsing at 1 Mbit/s without interruption; Unlimited XL raises the threshold to 3 GB per day (from €9.90 for Turkey). Airalo uses the same mechanism and states 3 GB of high speed per day in its own fair use policy, followed by 1 Mbit/s as well (as of 25 Aug 2026). Holafly does not state a daily threshold on its Turkey product page. So compare “unlimited” by the daily threshold and the price, not by the word. Premium (2-in-1 network) Alongside the Standard plan (network: Vodafone Türkiye), POVNOMAD also sells the Turkey eSIM Premium (2-in-1 network): it uses both Vodafone Türkiye and Türk Telekom, switching automatically to whichever network is stronger, with 4G/5G where available. Two networks instead of one mean better coverage outside the main cities, for example on the coast or in mountain regions. Premium pricing is separate from Standard and runs higher (as of 30 Aug 2026): 1 GB for 7 days costs €3.90, 3 GB for 15 days €4.90, Unlimited Smart for 30 days €31.90, and Unlimited XL for 30 days €67.90. What Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Saily are good at An honest comparison names the others’ strengths. Airalo is the best-known provider with a huge country selection and a large community. Holafly specialises in unlimited plans for a very wide range of destinations and offers subscription models for frequent travellers. Nomad sells solid data plans at fair prices. Saily belongs to Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. If you already have credit or a subscription with one of these providers and are NOT travelling to Turkey, there is little reason to switch. Who POVNOMAD suits POVNOMAD is a German provider from Saarbrücken: German invoices, support in German and English, a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, and ratings of 4.5/5 on Trustpilot plus 100% recommendation on eBay (as of August 2026). Three things speak for it in Turkey: the unlimited price, the choice from 1 GB to unlimited instead of unlimited-only, and the validity start with the first connection to a Turkish network – you can buy and install the Turkey eSIM weeks before departure without losing a day. On the go, the POVNOMAD app for iOS and Android covers purchase, one-tap installation, live data usage tracking, managing several eSIMs, and topping up with one tap, even from inside Turkey. Frequently asked questions about the Turkey eSIM comparison Which eSIM provider was cheapest for Turkey in this comparison? Install eSIM – How do I install my travel eSIM on Android & Samsung?

Frequently asked questions about eSIM installation How do I install the eSIM using the QR code from the povnomad email? Open the eSIM email from povnomad with the QR code, go to Settings, then Connections, and open the SIM Manager. Select “Add eSIM” and scan the QR code to set it up. Should I install the eSIM before my trip? Yes, scan the QR code and install the eSIM before you arrive in the destination region. You need WLAN or a mobile connection to download the eSIM data, so it’s ready to switch on the moment you land. What should I do if the QR code won’t scan or there’s no connection? Check that mobile data and data roaming are both activated for the eSIM and that the APN settings match the installation link. You can also enter the activation code manually or pick the partner network yourself through the network operator search, and support is available by email or WhatsApp for anything else. When does my eSIM’s validity actually start? As long as you’re not yet in the eSIM’s country or region, you won’t get any reception. The connection to the partner network only kicks in once you land, and that’s when the eSIM starts working. Is my smartphone eSIM compatible? Dial the test code *#06# to see your device’s technical details. If an eSIM identification number (EID) shows up, your smartphone supports eSIM. Popular eSIM destinations

eSIM Turkey – your smart data tariff on Povnomad.com

Are you traveling to Istanbul, Antalya or Cappadocia? Then the eSIM Turkey from POVNOMAD is the easiest way to get mobile online – without SIM cards, registrations or queues. Read on – this guide provides you with all the important information for your start in Turkey without high roaming charges or slow international data packages. Update August 2026: Since July 2025, Turkey’s regulator BTK has been blocking the websites and apps of more than 30 eSIM providers, including Airalo and Holafly. Our article Turkey eSIM Blocked? Which Providers Are Affected explains what this means for your trip and why you should install your eSIM before entering the country. Why you should use local SIM cards or (better) eSIMs in Turkey Extreme price advantages: e.g. from just 1 GB for €2 (7 days) up to 50 GB for €48 (30 days) – significantly cheaper than airport SIMs, which often cost €50 or more. Fast delivery by email: You order, receive the QR code immediately and activate directly on arrival. Full LTE/5G speed & hotspot: No throttling – ideal for sharing via your own Wi-Fi. No registration, no language barrier – simply book on the website, no documents required on povnomad.com. A stable data connection is worth its weight in gold when traveling – whether you want to call an Uber, use Google Maps or stay in touch with family and friends. Fast internet is also essential for banking apps, emergencies or mobile working on the move. 🆚 Local providers vs. POVNOMAD eSim Turkcell, Vodafone & Turk Telekom often charge high prices for tourist tariffs (40-60 €), plus usually registration or SIM purchase on site. POVNOMAD, on the other hand, offers: “Tourist SIM card prices are brutal … if you only need data, then esim is your friend.” My tip: Buy from official stores or use an eSIM – you know what you’re getting. 🧳 Who is the POVNOMAD Turkey eSIM suitable for? Short-term vacationer: City trip with maps, social media & navigation? 1-3 GB is enough. Digital nomads & business travelers: 10-20 GB for several weeks is efficient & affordable. Backpackers, frequent travelers: no SIM registration, can be set via QR, works immediately. 🔧 How to activate your POVNOMAD eSIM Turkey – in 3 steps: Tip: Device compatible? iPhones from XS/XR, Samsung Galaxy from S21, Pixel 6+ etc. are supported – see compatibility list https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?sSIMTypes=4 📌 FAQs eSim Turkey Does the 120-day IMEI registration limit apply to eSIM?This rule usually applies to local SIMs – eSIMs from abroad usually do not trigger this. Use data-only tariffs such as POVNOMAD for short stays of less than 90-120 days. Can I use WhatsApp with the Turkey eSIM?Of course! Your WhatsApp number remains the same, even if you only use the eSIM data connection. SMS / calls?POVNOMAD eSIMs are data-only. WhatsApp, Telegram or VoIP is your choice for phone calls or text messages. Hotspot allowed?Yes, the eSIM works as a divisible hotspot – ideal for several devices at the same time. Does the eSIM work immediately upon arrival?Yes, the eSIM is activated when you make your first connection in Turkey. Ideal if you need Internet directly at the airport. 📌 Price comparison: POVNOMAD vs. Turkish providers ✅ POVNOMAD eSIM for Turkey 🇹🇷 Turkcell Tourist Welcome Pack (local provider) Simpler data-only packages: 🧮 Comparison table Data volume POVNOMAD (Euro) Turkcell Tourist (local) Remark 1 GB ~ 2 € not as a single tariff Only data-only available via POVNOMAD 10 GB ~ 8 € n.V. PX → local provider usually 20 GB minimum 20 GB ~ 14 € ~ 35-40 € POVNOMAD significantly cheaper 50 GB ~ 48 € usually not available Local tariffs often 25-200 GB, but expensive ⚠️ To be honest: these are theoretical prices – at the local Turkcell store we were only offered one package at a time, no alternative. This is probably due to the pay-per-use concept: You buy a prepaid card in the store, then you top it up – more or less depending on your usage, although it’s probably best to be prepared to pay around 30 euros a month with sim card providers. It is best to make a cost-benefit comparison for yourself, especially with regard to the time you would otherwise have to spend on vacation. An alternative would be an ESIM. The relaxed alternative: Digital eSIM Turkey from POVNOMAD My conclusion after all my experiences with queues, language barriers, overpriced top-ups and dubious salespeople at the airport:I prefer eSIMs in Turkey from now on. With a digital eSIM from POVNOMAD you can: 👉 Book now in the ESIM Store here – especially for travelers! Planning an onward journey? These eSIMs are the perfect match If you are traveling on after your stay in Turkey, you will find suitable offers at POVNOMAD: You can activate all eSIMs directly via your POVNOMAD account or save them in stock. Conclusion: Local SIM or eSIM – which is better for you? Although you can easily buy a local SIM card at the airport or in the city, using a digital eSIM is much easier. No stress, no searching – just scan, activate and go. My learning after several SIM card purchases on site:In the end, the eSIM was not only cheaper, but also saved time and nerves.
