Morocco eSIM with unlimited data: POVNOMAD vs Airalo vs Holafly

POVNOMAD, Airalo and Holafly all sell an unlimited-data eSIM for Morocco. POVNOMAD Unlimited Smart starts at €7.90 for 3 days, Holafly at €13.50, Airalo at €15.50. Airalo’s Morocco table stops at 10 days. For a two-week loop, two prices remain: €29.90 against €53.90.

The comparison at a glance

Fair use: for Unlimited Smart, POVNOMAD states both figures, 1 GB of full-speed data per day and a steady 1 Mbit/s afterwards, reset every 24 hours. Airalo’s Morocco page states no threshold, its general fair-use page names 3 GB per day followed by 1 Mbps. Holafly’s Morocco pages give neither a threshold nor a throttled speed. A higher daily threshold only pays off if you reach it: stay under 3 GB a day and you are paying there for data you leave on the table. Prices are subject to change.

Unlimited Smart undercuts both competitors at every duration. At 3 days that is €7.90 against Holafly’s €13.50 and Airalo’s €15.50, at 10 days €21.90 against €38.90 and €40.00. In exchange, Airalo allows three times the daily full-speed data, and each provider defines “unlimited” for itself. Airalo’s general fair-use page reads: “when you use more than 3GB in a day, we’ll slow down (or ‘throttle’) your internet speed to 1 Mbps for the rest of that day.” Holafly’s Morocco page says only that throttling “can last a maximum of one day”. POVNOMAD prints 1 GB and 1 Mbit/s on the product page.

The field thins out past two weeks. Airalo shows no list price for 15, 21 and 30 days, so a full month comes down to €56.90 against Holafly’s €78.90.

Work out the daily price before you move up a tier. Five days cost €10.90, or €2.18 a day. Seven days cost €15.90, or €2.27 a day. The longer plan costs more per day.

For more headroom on a short trip, Unlimited L raises the daily allowance to 2 GB: €11.90 for 3 days, €18.90 for 5 days, €24.90 for 7 days, €35.90 for 10 days. Across those four durations L stays below Airalo’s price. From 15 days on we advise against it: L costs €97.90 for 30 days against Unlimited Smart’s €56.90. One note on buying: purchases in the POVNOMAD app earn up to 10 percent of the amount paid as credits, redeemable on your next order. The web shop does not award credits. The prices in the table stay the same, the credits lower the bill on your next trip.

The network difference

Morocco has three operators: Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi. The POVNOMAD eSIM connects to the Orange Morocco 5G network. Airalo names “Orange”, Holafly names “Maroc Telecom” (both retrieved 5 September 2026). None of the three lists inwi as a partner network.

5G in Morocco is new. According to trade press, the regulator awarded licences to all three operators in July 2025 and commercial service started in November 2025 in the first cities, with the 2030 World Cup driving the rollout. Outside those cities you run on 4G.

Coverage runs out in the desert and the mountains. Travel blogs report 4G in Merzouga village and 2G or nothing among the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Holafly writes as much on its own Morocco pages: “Our coverage is excellent in urban areas. However, in deserts, mountains, or jungles, the quality may be weaker or unstable.”

Hotspot rules separate the three offers. POVNOMAD sets no separate cap for sharing. Holafly limits the hotspot to 1 GB per day, 7 GB across a 7-day plan. Airalo publishes no hotspot figure for Morocco.

Morocco blocked calls over internet services for a few months in 2016. The block was lifted the same year, and travel blogs report that WhatsApp calls work normally in 2026.

Data packages instead of unlimited

For a week in Marrakech with maps, WhatsApp and photos you do not need unlimited data.

The gap widens at the top end: 20 GB for 30 days costs €23.90, Unlimited Smart €56.90. Stream on the riad Wi-Fi and 20 GB saves €33 across the month.

Which plan for which trip

Maps in the medina, WhatsApp with voice notes, a riad booking on the move, a few photos: days like that usually stay under 1 GB. You stay online all day without paying for 3 GB you leave unused. On the days it goes over, Unlimited Smart drops to 1 Mbit/s and maps and messengers keep working. Stream two hours of HD in the evening and Airalo’s 3 GB a day serves you better.

Marrakech and Essaouira, five to seven days: Unlimited Smart costs €10.90 for 5 days and €15.90 for 7 days. Spend your evenings on the riad Wi-Fi and 5 GB for 30 days at €8.90 covers it. For a week with streaming, Unlimited L costs €24.90 and Airalo €31.00.

A loop through Fes, Chefchaouen and the Sahara, ten to fifteen days: maps, train tickets and desert tour bookings run through your phone all day. Unlimited Smart costs €21.90 for 10 days and €29.90 for 15 days. At 15 days Airalo shows no list price and Holafly charges €53.90.

A long stay or a surf month in Taghazout: with Wi-Fi where you sleep, 20 GB for 30 days at €23.90 lasts.
