All prices as of 30 September 2026, collected from povnomad.com, airalo.com (Azerbaijan page, EUR) and esim.holafly.com/de (Azerbaijan page, EUR). “–” means no such plan on that date. Fair use: POVNOMAD Unlimited Smart gives 1 GB of full-speed data per day, then up to 1 Mbit/s, reset every 24 hours. Airalo slows to 1 Mbit/s after 3 GB a day. Holafly names no daily threshold and says any throttling lasts one day at most. Prices are subject to change.

Unlimited Smart costs less than Airalo and Holafly at each duration both offer: €13.60 less than Airalo for 7 days and €15.00 less than Holafly. Over 30 days the gap to Airalo narrows to €7.60. The daily price falls from €3.30 for 3 days to €3.13 for 7 days and €2.73 for 30 days.

Airalo gives you three times as much full-speed data per day: 3 GB against our 1 GB. We sell no larger unlimited tier for Azerbaijan, so if you need more than 1 GB at full speed every day, Airalo’s €35.50 for 7 days buys you more high-speed data. The overview of the unlimited eSIMs explains our tiers, and the POVNOMAD price study 2026 compares fair use rules across providers.

POVNOMAD costs less at each size, with a validity at least as long. For a week with hotel Wi-Fi in the evenings, 3 GB for €9.90 costs €12.00 less than a week of Unlimited Smart. If you need more than 5 GB in a week, Unlimited Smart for €21.90 costs less than our 10 GB package at €23.90.

Which network does the eSIM use: Azercell, Bakcell or Nar?

Azerbaijan has three mobile operators: Azercell, Bakcell and Nar. The POVNOMAD Azerbaijan eSIM lists Azercell 4G and Bakcell 5G as example networks in its technical data. Airalo names Azercell and Nar, Holafly names Bakcell and Azercell (both retrieved 30 September 2026).

Hotspot is included, and the product page names no separate sharing limit. Holafly allows 1 GB of shared data per day. The POVNOMAD eSIM carries data only, without SMS or a phone number. Your validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a partner network in Azerbaijan, and you have 120 days after purchase to activate it.

Do you need to register your phone in Azerbaijan?

Not with a travel eSIM. Azerbaijan blocks phones with an unregistered IMEI once they have used an Azerbaijani SIM for 30 days. The operator Bakcell writes that a foreigner who uses a foreign operator’s SIM in roaming does not need to register the IMEI. A travel eSIM connects to Azercell or Bakcell in roaming, which is why you enable data roaming for it.

Customs is a separate matter. You must declare mobile devices to customs when you enter Azerbaijan. Drones and satellite phones need prior approval from the civil aviation authority, and customs confiscates drones without it (as of 30 September 2026).

How do you get into Azerbaijan?

By air. German citizens can currently enter only by air (as of 30 September 2026). Since 26 May 2026 a passenger train runs between Baku and Tbilisi again, but according to the Azerbaijani authorities only citizens of visa-exempt countries may use it. Leaving by land requires a permit.

German and British citizens need a visa. You can apply online through the official e-visa portal for a single stay of up to 30 days. If you stay longer than 15 days, you must register with the State Migration Service, which hotels usually do for their guests. Armenian visas in your passport can lead to long waits, questioning or refused entry.

Azerbaijan and Georgia on one trip: what do you need?

The Azerbaijan eSIM works only in Azerbaijan. For a trip with Georgia you install two eSIMs: 7 days of unlimited data in Georgia (€10.90) and 3 days in Azerbaijan (€9.90) cost €20.80 together. Our Global eSIM covers Azerbaijan and Armenia but not Georgia. Airalo Discover covers all three countries on one eSIM, €58.00 for 10 days of unlimited data.

From Azerbaijan you cannot cross into Armenia: the border is closed. Routes and costs for all three countries are in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on one trip.

Which plan for which trip?

A long weekend in Baku: Unlimited Smart for 3 days costs €9.90, 1 GB for 7 days €3.90.

A week in Baku with day trips on the Absheron peninsula: Unlimited Smart for 7 days costs €21.90, Airalo €35.50 and Holafly €36.90. With hotel Wi-Fi in the evenings, 3 GB for 15 days at €9.90 is enough for maps and messaging.

Two weeks or more with Wi-Fi where you sleep: 10 GB for 30 days at €23.90. If you stream every day or work over the hotspot, Airalo’s 3 GB of daily high-speed data suits you better than our 1 GB. Every plan sits on the Azerbaijan eSIM product page.
