Looking for a Turkey eSIM and torn between Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Saily and POVNOMAD? Two facts decide this comparison: the price of unlimited data and Turkey’s BTK block, which has affected the big international providers since July 2025. On 30 September 2026, 30 days of unlimited data cost €26.90 (Smart, 1 GB high speed/day) or €59.90 (XL, 3 GB/day) at POVNOMAD, €62.50 at Airalo (3 GB/day) and €68.90 at Holafly. This comparison shows all the numbers, the block status, the networks and who each provider suits. First survey: 25 August 2026 (Airalo then €61.50); updated on 30 September 2026.

All prices collected on 30 Sept 2026 from the providers’ own Turkey pages (EUR); first survey on 25 Aug 2026. “–” = no matching plan offered on that date. Offers may change. High speed per day: POVNOMAD Smart 1 GB, POVNOMAD XL 3 GB, Airalo 3 GB (per its own fair use policy), each followed by 1 Mbit/s; Holafly states no threshold.
For context: in the POVNOMAD price study 2026 across 95 countries, the median for one week of unlimited data was €9.90 (as of 5 September 2026).
The decisive difference: the Turkey block
The BTK decision of 10 July 2025 (no. E-98966759-450.08-36681) named Airalo, Saily, Holafly and Nomad among eight providers; by early 2026, more than 30 services were affected. The block hits these providers’ websites and apps on Turkish networks: anyone trying to buy, activate or top up locally cannot reach their sites. On 30 September 2026, Airalo’s own Turkey page still says “You currently can’t purchase eSIMs in Turkey”, and Holafly’s news page (updated 7 August 2026) says its website and app remain blocked in Turkey. POVNOMAD is not named in the July 2025 decision; BTK publishes no complete list (as of 30 Sept 2026). Our article Turkey eSIM Blocked? explains the details – and the most important rule applies to every provider: buy and install your eSIM before entering the country. If you would rather buy a SIM card in a Turkish operator shop, Turkey SIM Card for Tourists covers prices, passport rules and phone registration.
Prices in detail
On 25 August 2026, Airalo and Holafly sold unlimited plans only for Turkey. By 30 September 2026, Airalo had added fixed data plans: 1 GB for 3 days now costs €4.00 and 20 GB for 30 days €20.50. Holafly still sells unlimited plans only, the smallest at €11.37 for 3 days, so you pay the unlimited price there even if you need little data. At POVNOMAD, a 1 GB plan for 7 days costs €2.90.
For data plans, Nomad and POVNOMAD sit close together: 20 GB for 30 days costs €17.55 at Nomad, €20.50 at Airalo and €16.90 at POVNOMAD. The biggest gap shows up in unlimited data for a full trip: Nomad caps unlimited at 10 days (€24.56), while Airalo (€62.50) and Holafly (€68.90) charge more than double POVNOMAD’s €26.90 for 30 days. Saily’s website refused our automated request again on 30 September 2026 (HTTP 403), so Saily is not in the table. The last archived version of its Turkey page, from 13 July 2026, listed 1 GB for 7 days at US$3.99 and 30 days of unlimited data at US$48.99.
Transparency on “unlimited”: at POVNOMAD, Unlimited Smart means unlimited data with 1 GB of high speed per day, after which you keep browsing at 1 Mbit/s without interruption; Unlimited XL raises the threshold to 3 GB per day (from €9.90 for Turkey). Airalo uses the same mechanism and states 3 GB of high speed per day in its own fair use policy, followed by 1 Mbit/s as well (as of 25 Aug 2026, unchanged on 30 Sept 2026). Holafly does not state a daily threshold on its Turkey product page. So compare “unlimited” by the daily threshold and the price, not by the word.
Premium (2-in-1 network)
Alongside the Standard plan (network: Vodafone Türkiye), POVNOMAD also sells the Turkey eSIM Premium (2-in-1 network): it uses both Vodafone Türkiye and Türk Telekom, switching automatically to whichever network is stronger, with 4G/5G where available. Two networks instead of one mean better coverage outside the main cities, for example on the coast or in mountain regions. Actual network coverage on the ground can be checked independently on the nPerf coverage map. Premium pricing is separate from Standard and runs higher (as of 30 Sept 2026): 1 GB for 7 days costs €3.50, 3 GB for 15 days €5.50, Unlimited Smart for 30 days €31.90, and Unlimited XL for 30 days €67.90. On 30 Aug 2026 the two small plans cost €3.90 and €4.90. What Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Saily are good at
An honest comparison names the others’ strengths. Airalo is the best-known provider with a huge country selection and a large community. Holafly specialises in unlimited plans for a very wide range of destinations and offers subscription models for frequent travellers. Nomad sells solid data plans at fair prices. Saily belongs to Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. If you already have credit or a subscription with one of these providers and are NOT travelling to Turkey, there is little reason to switch.
Who POVNOMAD suits
POVNOMAD is a provider from Germany: German invoices, support in German and English, a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, and ratings of 4.5/5 on Trustpilot plus 100% recommendation on eBay (as of August 2026). Three things speak for it in Turkey: the unlimited price, the choice from 1 GB to unlimited instead of unlimited-only, and the validity start with the first connection to a Turkish network – you can buy and install the Turkey eSIM weeks before departure without losing a day.
On the go, the POVNOMAD app for iOS and Android covers purchase, one-tap installation, live data usage tracking, managing several eSIMs, and topping up with one tap, even from inside Turkey.

Is there an Airalo alternative based in Germany?
Yes. POVNOMAD is based in Germany, issues German invoices and offers support in German and English. eSIMs cover 190+ destinations, with Turkey plans from 1 GB to unlimited.
What should I look for when comparing eSIM providers?
Four things: the price for the data you actually need instead of unlimited-only plans, the provider’s block status in your destination, when the validity period starts, and whether you can reach support in your language if something goes wrong.
Which network does a Turkey eSIM use?
It depends on the provider. POVNOMAD’s Standard eSIM uses Vodafone Türkiye, the Premium eSIM adds Türk Telekom. Airalo and Nomad use Türk Telekom, Holafly names Turkcell and Türk Telekom (as of 30 Sept 2026). Our network guide for Turkey compares the three operators on 5G.
