A week of unlimited data in Mauritius costs €25.90 with the POVNOMAD Mauritius eSIM, €32.00 with Airalo and €33.90 with Holafly, as of 30 September 2026. From ten days on, the tourist SIMs from my.t and Emtel cost less: €30 for 30 days of unlimited 5G data, with a local number. A higher daily threshold only helps if you use it. Our overview of unlimited eSIMs explains the tiers.
Is a my.t or Emtel tourist SIM cheaper?
From ten days on, yes. Both operators sell a tourist SIM for €30 including VAT: 30 days of unlimited 5G data, Rs 200 of call credit and unlimited local texts. My.t sells it online, at the Telecom Shop at SSR International Airport on arrival and as an eSIM at a digital kiosk there; you need a valid passport and the address of your stay (my.t). Emtel offers the same price as a SIM or eSIM and asks for a passport scan when you pre-book (Emtel). My.t mentions a fair usage policy without naming a threshold. As of 30 September 2026.
For a week, our Unlimited Smart costs €4.10 less than the tourist SIM, and you skip the registration. For ten days or more, the tourist SIM costs less than any of the three travel eSIMs here and gives you a Mauritian number for local calls.

Our data plans can be topped up, which helps if a cyclone keeps you on the island longer: each top-up extends the validity by up to 30 days (top-up page). Our unlimited plans cannot be topped up.
my.t or Emtel: which network does each eSIM use?
Mauritius has three mobile operators: Cellplus, the mobile company of Mauritius Telecom under the my.t brand, Emtel and MTML. All three received 5G licences on 17 June 2021 (ICTA). Our product page names my.t 5G as the example network, Holafly also names my.t, and Airalo says its Mauritius eSIM operates on Emtel. As of 30 September 2026.
My.t reports 5G coverage “in several regions nationwide including Rodrigues” and links a coverage map on its 5G page. Emtel advertises island-wide coverage on its tourist page. We have no independent measurement that ranks the two networks.
Is there signal on the beach, at Le Morne and on Rodrigues?
No provider publishes coverage for a particular beach or trail. Before hiking Le Morne Brabant or the Black River Gorges, download offline maps and check the coverage map of the network your eSIM uses.
Rodrigues belongs to Mauritius, and the flight from the main island requires a valid passport or ID card (as of 30 September 2026). My.t reports 5G on Rodrigues, and our eSIM uses my.t according to the product page. We have not tested it on Rodrigues ourselves, and we found no coverage statement from Emtel for the island.
What does your home contract cost, and what about Réunion?
Mauritius is outside EU roaming. Without a travel add-on, a German Vodafone contract charges €1.18 per 50 kB there, about €24 per megabyte (Vodafone InfoDok 443, September 2026). The EU cost cap stops mobile data at close to €50 excluding VAT a month unless you have opted out (Regulation (EU) 2022/612, Article 14(4) and (8)). At that rate you reach it after about 2.5 MB. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM before you land.
Réunion, the neighbouring island, is a French overseas department. Vodafone lists it among the EU countries, so your EU tariff works there as at home. Our Mauritius eSIM only works in Mauritius. For a trip to both islands, use the Mauritius eSIM on Mauritius and your home SIM on Réunion.
