Prices collected on 30.09.2026 on povnomad.com, airalo.com (plan “Plisi”) and nomadesim.com (euro display, converted by Nomad from US dollars). Validity differs, see brackets. “–” = no plan on offer. None of the three sells an unlimited plan for Kosovo alone. Prices may change.
The gap grows with the data amount. For 20 GB you pay €80.90 with us and €44.50 with Airalo. If you need a lot of data in Kosovo alone, Airalo or Nomad is the better buy on the survey date. For a short visit with maps and messaging, our 1 GB over seven days for €6.90 costs less than Nomad’s week and runs four days longer than Airalo’s 1 GB plan.
Is there an unlimited eSIM for Kosovo?
Holafly sells unlimited data for Kosovo: €33.90 for seven days on its German site and $36.90 on its US site. Airalo includes Kosovo in its global Discover plan, with unlimited data at €41.00 for seven days, slowed to 1 Mbit/s after 3 GB a day. We have no unlimited plan for Kosovo.

Kosovo has no official ISO country code, and many shop and billing systems leave it out for that reason. Our Balkan eSIM comparison explains the background and compares unlimited plans for the neighbouring countries. If you only cross into Kosovo for a day or two from Albania or North Macedonia, a separate Kosovo eSIM next to your country eSIM is usually all you need: see our comparisons for Albania and North Macedonia.
Which network does a Kosovo eSIM use: IPKO or Vala?
The networks travel eSIMs use in Kosovo are IPKO and Vala. According to its product page, our Kosovo eSIM connects to IPKO on 4G. Nomad and Holafly also name IPKO; Airalo says its plan runs on Vala and IPKO. After purchase, your eSIM link lists the partner networks your eSIM actually uses under “Networks”.
Hotspot use is included with our eSIM. Validity starts on first contact with the partner network in Kosovo, not at purchase, so you can install it at home on Wi-Fi (instructions for iPhone and Android). You have 120 days from purchase to start using it.
Does EU roaming apply in Kosovo?
No. Kosovo is outside the EU roaming area, so EU SIM cards pay roaming rates there. Two examples from Germany: Vodafone charges its zone 5 rate, about 12 cents per MB (Vodafone InfoDok 443, September 2026). o2 places Kosovo in world zone 3 at €0.99 per MB (teltarif.de, August 2026). These rates apply only if no other roaming option is set in your contract. Telekom lists Kosovo in country group 2, where mobile data works only with a Travel & Surf pass or the annual roaming allowance.
A local SIM from Albania, Montenegro or North Macedonia works in Kosovo at home rates: the six Western Balkan economies have had roam like at home among themselves since 1 July 2021. The Council of the EU authorised talks on extending EU roaming to Kosovo and its neighbours on 4 June 2026; as of 30 September 2026 no date for entry into force has been set.
What a megabyte costs without an option at Vodafone, o2 and Telekom, and where phones switch networks by accident at the region’s borders, is covered in Border roaming in the Balkans.
Can you travel from Kosovo to Serbia?
Only if you entered Kosovo from Serbia. Serbia regards Kosovo as part of its territory and issues no entry stamps at the line between the two. You can leave Kosovo via Serbia only if you entered Kosovo overland from Serbia and your whole trip stays under three months; even then you may run into problems up to refused entry. Serbian officials usually cancel Kosovo stamps, and you can ask Kosovo border police not to stamp your passport (as of 30 September 2026).
If you arrive from Albania, North Macedonia or Montenegro, plan your exit through one of those countries. For the eSIM, the border matters too: a Kosovo eSIM stops working in Serbia, which has its own Serbia eSIM comparison.
What else should you know before a Kosovo trip?
Kosovo pays in euros, and cash costs extra: six of the seven banks charge a flat €5 per withdrawal, BKT charges €3 plus 7 percent up to €10, and none is free. Our guide to ATM fees in Kosovo shows which banks allow €2,000 per withdrawal (fees as of 1 September 2026). If your route continues to the coast, Montenegro and Albania on one trip compares two country eSIMs with regional plans. Our Travel eSIM Price Study 2026 compares prices and fair use rules of the large providers across more countries.
