🤔 Which eSIM should I choose?
We currently offer two variants – choose according to your needs:
- 👉 With Hong Kong IP (cheaper): Most Western apps run with this version without a separate VPN (Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube). Restrictions: TikTok (international version) generally does not work in China; individual streaming services (Netflix libraries, Disney+, HBO) and some banking/cloud services and AI services may be unstable due to geo-filtering.
- 👉 With Singapore IP (Premium “SG Location – TikTok ready”): Largely bypasses the China filter. Generally also works with services that are blocked with HK-IP: TikTok (international version; ~90% probability, rather stable on iPhone), streaming (Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu), western news, banking/PayPal with geo-checks.
🧪 Our POVNOMAD experience
- HK-IP: approx. 85 % of all apps/websites stable.
- SG-IP: approx. 90-100 % (often more reliable on iPhone than on Android).
- Special feature TikTok: App accesses SIM/device signals, among other things – therefore not guaranteed on every device. The SG version (“TikTok ready”) is currently the best option.
Important note: We only guarantee the IP location (Hong Kong or Singapore) of the eSIM. Which apps/services actually work in China can change at any time due to the “Great Firewall”. If certain services are critical, we recommend testing a small SG starter package (e.g. 3 GB) first.
